29 Jun A New Historic Kitchen Design in New Bedford
Breathing New Life Into an Old Home
The kitchen is often referred to as the heart of the home. When this 100-year-old home hit the market, my clients were wooed by its collection of original details, like a working fireplace, a grand staircase, and solid hardwood floors. The kitchen? Only renovated once before, it offered more frustration than function. While the space boasted an island, it contained the electric cooktop, and was far too small (and unsafe!) to keep the home chef company as they worked. Beyond the tight quarters sat a tiny pantry and a quaint breakfast room tucked behind a stunning arched doorway. The original cabinetry became a favorite feature in this corner of the home, but as formal dining was not a priority for my clients and their young family, the breakfast room was destined to become underused space. As soon as they closed on the home, my clients and I began planning the historic kitchen design that should have always been there.
